04 DAYS NORTH-BENGAL TOUR package takes you to the northern plains and foothills of the Himalayas in West Bengal. Visit Darjeeling and Jaldapara National Park for a short weekend getaway from the dust and heat of city life.

Darjeeling was once a summer resort for the British Raj elite. It remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, or “Toy Train,” completed in 1881. Distinctive black tea grows on plantations along hill slopes. Mt. Kanchenjunga, third among the world’s highest peaks, provides a majestic backdrop. Darjeeling Tea is of very high quality and savoured by connoisseurs the world over.

Dooars is the gateway to the hill stations of North Bengal and Bhutan. Famous for its tea gardens, forests and the River Teesta, it is ideal for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. Jaldapara National Park is situated at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in Alipurduar District and on the banks of the Torsa River. Jaldapara is situated at an altitude of 61 m and is spread across 216.51 km² of vast grassland with patches of riverine forests. One can spot herds of deer, one-horned rhinos, elephants, guars and reptiles here.

  • The Darjeeling Ropeway is a round trip from Singamari to Tukvar taking 40 mins offering breathtaking views of tea gardens.
  • Best time to visit Darjeeling: October to March: October is when the monsoon season ends and a slight chill is observed in the weather. Winter season begins in full swing and it is during the months of mid-November to January when the average temperature ranges between 7 and 5 degree Celsius. it rarely snows in Darjeeling.
  • Best time to visit Dooars: The region receives the highest rainfall during the months of July to August. Dooars can be visited throughout the year, although the best time considered to visit Dooars is between mid-September to May. Every season offers a different excitement and experience,  including trekking, river-rafting and other adventure sports opportunities.

Day 01: Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station to Darjeeling

On arrival at the airport in Bagdogra/ New Jalpaiguri railway station, proceed to the hotel in Darjeeling. The rest of the day is on leisure for independent activities. Overnight in Darjeeling.

 

 

Day 02: Darjeeling  Sightseeing

Early morning, visit Tiger Hill to watch the spectacular sunrise and its amazing effects on Mt. Kangchenjunga. Visit Ghoom Monastery, a spiritual landmark in Darjeeling. Later, visit Batasia Loop, a gigantic loop through which the toy train makes a 360-degree turn.

After breakfast, proceed for a half day sightseeing tour of Darjeeling. Visit the Japanese Temple, Peace Pagoda, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. Other attractions are Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tenzing Rock, Gombu Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center and Tea Estate. Overnight in Darjeeling.

Note: The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute & Zoological Park is closed on Thursday and the Tibetan Refugee Centre is closed on Sunday.

 

Day 03:   Darjeeling to Dooars (Jaldapara)

After breakfast, proceed to Jaldapara, one of the most popular forests of Dooars. It is situated in the foothills of eastern Himalayas. Later in the afternoon, proceed to explore the Jaldapara National Park on a jeep safari. (Jeep safari on sharing basis ). The population of one-horned Asiatic Rhinos is the second largest in the world after Kaziranga forests of Assam.

Please note: Jeep safari in Jaldapara National Park is arranged as per availability and on an operational basis.

 

Day 4:   Depart Dooars(Jaldapara) : Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri

After breakfast, get transferred to the airport in Bagdogra/ New Jalpaiguri railway station for your onward journey.
