Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya. It’s known for the manicured gardens at Lady Hydari Park. Nearby, Ward’s Lake is surrounded by walking trails. North, the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures features displays on the region’s native people. Waterfalls include the Elephant Falls to the southwest. East of here, forested Shillong Peak offers city views.
Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It's known for its living root bridges, made from rubber trees. To the northeast, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View Point overlooks verdant gorges. In the surrounding hills, the Noh-Kalikai, Dain-Thlen and Kynrem waterfalls plunge from forested clifftops. South of town, Mawsmai Cave is illuminated to show its stalagmites.

Day 01: Guwahati to Cherrapunjee
On arrival at Guwahati Airport, drive to Cherrapunjee. En route witness the Umiam Lake or Barapani which is the largest artificial lake in Meghalaya. The evening is on leisure. Overnight in Cherrapunjee.
Day 02: Cherrapunjee
After breakfast, enjoy sightseeing in Cherrapunjee. Visit the gorgeous Seven Sisters (Nohsngithiang) falls and Nohkalikai Falls. Later take a walk inside the Mawsmai Cave. The limestone cave is a natural wonder with innumerable formations inside it. Also, visit the Ramakrishna Mission. Drive back to Shillong. Overnight in Shillong.
Day 03: Day trip to Mawlynnong & Dwaki
After early breakfast, proceed to Mwallynong (81 km/ 1.5 hrs), the cleanest village in Asia. Climb the 80 ft Sky Walk at Mawlynnong village for a bird’s eye view of the Village.
A trek to the nearby living root bridge is another interesting activity. Walk down a flight of almost 100 steps to witness nature’s wonder, living root bridge. The bridges are tangles of massive thick roots, which the local people intertwine to form a bridge that can hold several people at a time.
Later drive to Dawki to be mesmerized by the beauty of the Umngot river which forms a natural border with Bangladesh. The river is famous for its crystal clear water, so clear that when seen from a distance, it appears as if the boat is floating in mid-air. Enjoy an amazing country boat river ride to see the bottom of the lake through clear flowing water. Sail up to the Bangladesh border. Overnight in Shillong.
Day 04: Shillong - Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, visit the Elephant Falls, Ward’s Lake, Cathedral of Mary and Golf Course. Evening free at leisure to explore the region on own. Stroll through the buzzing Police Bazar area for buying souvenirs. Overnight in Shillong.
Optional: Visit Don Bosco Museum (Closed on Sundays, National Holidays, Easter, 22nd Dec, 02 Nights in Jan and 2nd & last Monday of December) focusing on local indigenous people & culture, with tools, clothing & artefacts on display.
Day 05: Departure
After breakfast transfer to Guwahati Airport for onward journey.
